From ho-hum to wow...in 2-3 days!
I mean no disrespect, but there was little in this front garden to inspire the senses...
We aimed to change that...
The daffodils were lovely...now they are a mess...simply because nothing has been planted to camouflage them as they die back...we'll fix that!
The front yard is drenched in sunlight...so much so that the azaleas planted years ago are a struggling...actually, more than struggling...we've decided they are on life support!
The two tall evergreens are great foundation plantings and do help to mask the height of the house...but alone they are rather abrasive...i think we'll fix that too!

Pumped up!
The first thing I did was alter the curve up by the house...by deepening that area of the garden, I was able to add the lilac to the existing foundation plantings...in time that will serve as a wonderful off-set to the masculinity of the taller evergreens...
The color of the lilac inspired much of the rest of the plantings...sticking with a chartreuse green, we added more purple and white accents with lots of different leaf textures...
I also leveled out spaces within the slope so that the eye has a flat place to land...the plantings have a slight separation now which is more pleasing...

Mulch & go...
Tomorrow I will finish up by re-inserting the daffodils which were temporarily removed...this time they'll be planted in clusters rather than in a single-file line
I'll also be adding a bit more ground cover so that the garden is better able to maintain itself -- ground covers make it harder for weeds to seed and also help eliminate the need to mulch...
