perhaps i am missing something...but does this say "welcome to our home"...?
to make matters worse, it hurts to touch it!
i checked with the local nursery, they don't want it...dude, your days are numbered!!

See ya monster tree...
After we cut the tree down, we drew a smily face on the trunk...it was fun until we dug it out...that was even more fun!
In all seriousness, we have a plan for this yard...I want to see a more direct path to the front porch from both the driveway and the front yard...right now, you have to step into the garden when you exit your car OR squeeze past a car to get to the flagstone path
We will remove the garden in front of the flagstone path and add sod...that will allow the children easier access to the front door
We will add a few flagstone steps to the side of the driveway...that will allow daddy (and others) a "landing strip" as they exit the car
We will also be removing the sod along the side of the house, adding a flagstone path, a "green fence" and more yummy plants for seasonal color! I think this element will really change the look of the front yard...providing some depth and privacy!

A great workday!
Mother Nature gave us steady rain yesterday...providing an excellent work day today! The sod came right up (the grubs helped...ugh), the new side garden got edged and graded...i'll need more sod in front of the flagstone landing...tomorrow promises to be another great day for this garden! stay tuned...
6 hours well spent...
Whoh! I started with a trip to American Plant Food for supplies...then I hit the ground running...
Layed the sod by the front landing, layed the flagstone "landing strip" by the driveway...
Planted several nandina and a Mohawk Viburnum...
Divided tons of liriope...
Planted several white "knock out" roses...
Planted several anemone...they are soo pretty this time of year...
Transplanted several existing perennials to the "new" side garden...
Mulched...watered...made it to the school carpool line just in time...go momma go!
This has been a great project and will continue to evolve...I'm looking forward to planting some bulbs (shhh...its a surprise) as well as some more seasonal offerings!

the rocks were "recovered" from the dirt and, with the help of the liriope, will help keep the garden off the landing...the pretty purple geranium will spread out and continue to be pretty for a few more weeks...and the anemone are just about to bloom! hope maya likes it!
