the good, the bad and the kinda ugly evergreens...

what an amazing house and family!

located across from a neighborhood park, this is a house and garden that longs to be personalized...the builder did a pretty good job but as we've learned, there is always room for improvement

i LOVE the smoketree in the left corner...it got a bit mistreated during its last "pruning"...but nothing that can't be fixed

our goal is to warm up this space...personalize it...add bold colors and soften the expansive hardscaping...we'll add planters too!

we want the children to enjoy the space, perhaps grow some strawberries and watch the birds...

Day One...

the begonias were a thoughtful addition by the lawn crew...however, they don't fit our plan...they came out fast!

the nandinas were relocated to the side of the yard where they will be better able to grow and prosper, rather than compete with the very healthy boxwood

and the two trees that flank the front step...they are sooo unhappy and unhealthy...they'll be removed too

lots of perennials were purchased and placed today...tomorrow we'll plant the oak leaf hydrangeas to flank the front steps...perhaps my favorite addition to this entryway...

the perennials will be planted too...more plants will be purchased for the containers to really "finish" the space...

welcome home!
